I have the benefit of many rich years of professional experience to draw from. In my four years at McKinsey & Company, I advised and counseled C-suite executives and senior leaders across a wide range of industries. In various Product Management, Product Marketing, and Strategy and Ops roles at YouTube, Google and Pinterest, I’ve learned what it takes to thrive in entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and intense environments. Spoiler alert: it isn’t always pretty.
“I always look forward to this meeting…” said no one ever, right? Wrong.
There were *always* meetings I looked forward to, but they weren’t always part of my “day job”. With my current and all of my past companies, I always jumped at the opportunity to volunteer to mentor others, and would always find myself wishing for more opportunities to make an impact like that. I’ve always had a strong passion and knack for illuminating things within people that they hadn’t seen before, helping them see things from different perspectives, or giving them the nudge or boost they needed to grow in a new direction.
The name Candlestick is a nod to the former home of the San Francisco 49ers. Candlestick Park was named after Candlestick Point and its “Candlestick bird”, a species of sandpiper. The candlestick bird itself was nearly endangered due to overhunting, but has persisted and survived. These are important themes in my own personal journey that I wanted to incorporate into this work.
